Agrupamento de Escolas de Loureiro is a basic school with 1138 students, between the ages of 3 to 15. The school is divided between 10 different buildings.  It is situated in a small rural area , Loureiro-Oliveira de Azemeis, with some industry nearby. Loureiro is a small village. The background of the students families is basically in agriculture and small industries (wood, metal, plastic, rice).

The school´s curricula follows the national programme with some courses directed to a professional life in pastry. These courses are directed for students who don’t achieve the goals of the curricula and fail the year or don’t have progress in their studies or might be near of leaving school. The course is orientated to learning a profession/skills in pastry.

There is also a special department for children with special educational needs, who are included in regular classes.

The school offers a wide range of extra- curricular activities such as sports, theatre, arts and music.

It’s a community friendly school concerning environment, culture and social issues. The local governmental representatives, social and cultural associations, as well as other private schools (music, dance, and drama) have been working in partnership with the school.
